A $15 million tax levy adopted by the Illinois Valley Community College’s Board of Trustees Thursday will result in a slight decrease in the tax rate.

An abbreviated version of Illinois Valley Community College’s unique college readiness program, Get Set, will be offered in January as students prepare to begin spring semester classes.

U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood (D-Naperville) announced Illinois Valley Community College will receive $889,855 in grant funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grants Program.

The spring semester tuition payment deadline has been extended to Jan. 3, at Illinois Valley Community College, giving students nearly three additional weeks to make financial arrangements.

The Illinois Valley Community College Decennial Committee will meet at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, in Board Room C307, when the group will be updated about options for sharing resources and services among colleges and consider the next steps.

Peru Parkside School will be presenting its annual winter concerts Monday, Dec. 11.

An installation project will close all but two of Illinois Valley Community College’s parking lots before the college shuts down for winter break, but they’re expected to reopen by Jan. 2 when the college reopens.
